The Freelander 2 is a versatile saloon car on the road, with exceptionally agile handling and accessible torque across the rev range – ready for off-road adventures. Available with capable diesel and petrol engine alternatives, the Land Rover Freelander 2 is said to have 30 percent more power than its predecessor’s V6 engine, and more than 100-percent improvement in fuel efficiency. The new Freelander is available with a 3.2-litre i6 petrol engine, which delivers 171KW of power, and access to 80 percent of the torque range at low revs. The 2.2-litre Turbo Diesel Freelander delivers 118KW on the road, and has an option of six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift adaptive automatic transmission – which provides drivers with clutch-free sequential gear changing. Standard manual transmission in the Freelander diesel has a Stop/Start system which helps to bring the engine to a halt when driving in congested conditions, saving up to 10.7 percent per 100 kilometres of fuel. When these systems detect the vehicle cornering off-course, these systems apply Anti-Lock Brakes to adjust the vehicle’s course.
 

 
More powerful than previous models, the Land Rover Freelander can drive from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just over 10 seconds. And yet, Land Rover has installed a variety of standard safety features, including front, side and full-length curtain airbags to protect passengers. Features such as Cornering Brake Control give additional brake force to the outside wheel when cornering, working against the risk of rear-end breakaway. Electronic Traction Control quickly intervenes when wheels are spinning to reduce torque.
